Orphaned, penniless, and determined to keep her family together, Elise St. John hastily arranges to marry the half-Apache Missouri landowner, Blade Lonewolf, who has agreed to adopt her younger sister. It is a marriage in name only, intended to make the unconventional adoption acceptable.
But as they try to form a family—a Baltimore debutante who can’t even cook and an outcast Indian whose heart is closed to love—they are beset by needs and desires they never anticipated. Living with Blade becomes a sweet torment.
His vitality awakens Elise in a desire that’s too dangerous to acknowledge—but just as impossible to ignore. For Blade, true love becomes a tantalizing promise held just out of reach. It is only when they are in greatest danger of losing everything that they find the fulfillment of their most splendid dreams.

This is one of my favorite books. The Hero is a hunk, committed to keeping his deceased wife's wishes about adopting an orphan, hardworking, responsible, patient, and loving to his newly adopted daughter. I loved the secondary characters of the elderly cousins. One assists the heroine in her ruse of being married to the H in order to be able to secure her younger sister's adoption and the other teaches the h how to cook. Both of them want the H to find love again with this new wife. The young wife, formerly wealthy until her parents death, was determined to learn all the things that she needed to know as a farmer's wife to make their arrangement work. The story had a steady progression in the development of the relationship between the two protagonists. The evil "judge" was an ever present sinister element who got what he deserved in the end. I enjoyed this book so much that I bought more of this author's books. I highly recommend it.Product details

Lonewolf Woman Wild Hearts Book 3 edition by Deborah Camp Romance eBooks Reviews
I took it upon great advice to give this book a try and I'm glad I did. Blade and Elise are a wonderful couple and I enjoyed their journey in getting to know one another. I was outraged at Elise's family and the way they treated her and her siblings after the death of their parents. And my heart broke for Blade and his difficult upbringing as well as becoming a recent widower. I read this story in one sitting.
This is my first Deborah Camp book, I'm happy to have found her. Blade and Elise are great characters. The half-breed and white woman story can be cliche, but Ms. Camp kept the flow going, Blade is everything you want in an intense half-breed with long dark hair, chiseled chest - he's a sexy god. Elise is both smart and clueless, but she's also determined to protect her family. Sexy moments included and Blade and Elise are great together. Definitely reading again and I've already purchased my next book by D. Camp.
Very good story that again demonstrates how love conquers all. Half Apache, Blade, adopts little girl from Orphan Train, as he promised his dying wife. Finds out her older sister is also on the train to keep an eye on the little one. When Blade is told he can't adopt without a wife, the older sister is only too agreeable to a quick wedding. Sparks fly.
4.5 STARS. A truly kind male, who also happens to be quite a stallion, who is also tender. A truly loveable heroine, tough, stubborn, passionate.
I love western era romance novels. This was a great one. Yes, a marriage of convienance, done before, but a good premise leading up to it.
This book deals with prejudices, passion, children, all without being too heavy.
Lonely hearts finding love, great scenes of passionate love-making, not just sex. Loved those.
What it lacked for me was the happy-ever-after epilogue including the children. But other than that it was a thouroughly enjoyable read.
I liked this story but found myself frustrated with the hero not fighting harder to keep his family together. It all worked out in the end but then I wondered why Adam didn't inherit the Judge's farm. Wasn't he the only legally adopted son? They never had a chance to reverse the adoption before both his adoptive parents died. He should have received some award for all he suffered. Instead there was some allusion that the Baltimore attorney was interested in purchasing the property.
I enjoyed this book very much. It was sweet and sassy. The characters grew on you. Oh and such a nice ending.
Heartbreaking but funny fish out of water story.
Elise St. John was the eldest of the three St. John children. After their well to do parents died, all three were left penniless and homeless. Elise was determined to keep them together. She did this by convincing our hero to marry her and adopt her younger sister.
Our hero, Blade was a widow. He and his wife had signed up to adopt a young girl before her death. He was determined to raise the young girl, as his wife had wanted. To do this he had to find a new wife. His adopted daughter's sister, Elise was the perfect choice. But he was determined that the marriage would be married in name only.
Of course that did not work out for him. They found their HEA!
Elise's younger brother also help a major part of the story. In fact, he was one of my favorite characters. I wish the author would write his story. I would love to see him find his HEA.
This was a good book. There was just enough steam! A few laughs and even a few tear jerker moments. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoys American Historical Romance.
